This Bud's for You, 24 May: Tatters

Tatters, that is all there was tonight. Drawn and quartered, ripped apart. Heck half the group was not even in sight at the far bend in the road as the winner made his final push to the line. Flung along the road, racing against the curb like fallen leaves pushed by the wind. But what happened? My late arrival, in time for the finale but little else, was usual. Atypically the big bunch did not come into view at the distant end of the finishing straight before the inevitable jump and shred. Last night the explosion, the shredding appears to have happened much earlier, gaping holes between riders. Pushing to the line, rather than sprinting, the outcome was determined somewhere other than the end.
